Don’t we want to share the gifts we have?
Only a stingy and selfish person wouldn’t want to share with others, the gift that Allah shared with him.
Allah says in the Quran:
And why do you not spend in the cause of Allah while to Allah belongs the heritage of the heavens and the earth? (57:10)
Essentially everything belongs to Allah. That includes the money and things we all have. So why be greedy about something that was given to you? If Allah was greedy (I seek refuge in Allah) none of us would have a thing. Not even life. The Prophet PBUH said:
None of you [truly] believes until he loves for his brother that which he loves for himself. (Bukhari and Muslim)
So here’s my gift to you. A simple reminder. If you have not spent a few hours with your family today, then go and do it. If you have not kissed your family and told them how much you love and care for them, then go and do it. And don’t just play lip service, but also help them as well. The Prophet PBUH said:
The best of you is the one who is best to his wife, and I am the best of you to my wives.
May Allah forgive us our sins and guide us to what is best. Ameen.
