How much does Allah SWT do for us? He gives us life, good health, beautiful homes. He promises us eternal paradise where we can live forever and have whatever our hearts desire. Even a person in a horrible state in this life still receives countless blessings from Allah. Like having a mind, having relief from hardship, being alive, if he’s Muslim having the guidance of Islam, Having family around him, or companions. There’s so many countless blessings we all have. Allah says:
وَإِن تَعُدُّوا نِعْمَتَ اللَّـهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَا
“and if you count Allah’s favors, you will not be able to number them” (14:34)
Allah’s mercy is so amazing and huge. We sometimes take for granted the love our mother shows us. She cares for us when we we’re small, feeds us when we can’t feed ourselves. Clothes us when we can’t clothe ourselves. Rocks us to sleep, when we are tired but can’t sleep. We can see and feel the love our mothers has for us. But this love that we receive from our mothers is only a small portion of the mercy Allah has placed on the Earth.
In Saheeh Muslim it is narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
“Allah has one hundred parts of mercy, of which He sent down one between the jinn, mankind, the animals and the insects, by means of which they are compassionate and merciful to one another, and by means of which wild animals are kind to their offspring. And Allah has kept back ninety-nine parts of mercy with which to be merciful to His slaves of the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim, al-Tawbah, 6908)
Subhana Allah! All the mercy we see in this world between humans and animals is only 1 part of 100 parts of Allah’s mercy. Look at the mercy Allah has for us. Even hell is a mercy for the believers. How is that? If there was no hell, and there was only paradise, then for many of us we wouldn’t strive to get away from hell with all our might. Hell is motivation to do good deeds and be just so that we can avoid it and enter paradise.
Look at Allah’s mercy. Even when we disobey Him, He still lets us breathe, feeds us, clothes us, provides for us and keeps us living. Even while we’re doing the sin. How Great and merciful Allah is to us. And to erase the sin all we need to do is turn to Him with sincere repentance, intending never to do the sin again.
I pray Allah grants us more mercy and forgiveness and allows us to enter His Jannah.
